JOB SUMMARY:
To capture, process, and reconcile accounting transactions and information strictly in accordance with laid down accounting pro- cedures, standards, and accounting schedules and to ensure an accurate and timely record of financial transactions to facilitate the timely preparation of financial statements and reports. The role further involves maintaining financial records, processing invoices and payments
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Budgeting & Financial Reporting
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
Provide financial data and analysis for management decision-making Support the preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
Financial Operations Management
Update the general ledger on a regular basis and ensure its accuracy and completeness Feed accounting data into the pastel system (capturing of receipts invoices and payment). Reconciliation of bank deposits and cash receipts
Reconcile discrepancies in accounts
Responsible for the cashier office
Register all finance transactions accurately for future reference
Responsible for office petty cash
Financial Reporting
Prepare Bank Reconciliations
Prepare monthly Direct Debit collection schedules and reconciliation
Process Direct debit payables
Accurate calculation and payment of commissions and premiums on a timely basis
Financial Record-keeping
Maintain accurate and up-to date financial records Prepare financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process and manage invoices payments, and expense claims Track and reconcile bank deposits and payments
Ensure timely collection of receivables and payment of payables
Compliance & Audits
Prepare tax fillings (VAT, income tax, etc) and ensure timely submission.
Handle tax-related queries and ensure tax compliance
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting principles Assist in internal and external audits
Cash Flow Management
Prepare monthly reconciliation of the cash account
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in bank accounts
Prepare of monthly cash account premiums schedule for life. and short-term insurance
Monitoring & Compliance
Adherence to internal controls and audit recommendations to meet corporate objectives and accounting standards
Assist external auditors and provides required statements and information for the annual audit
Check verification and exception reports from accounting systems for completeness and accuracy of data and takes corrective action
General Perform any other tasks as agreed with by supervisor
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Degree in Accounting. Finance, business Administration or related
BICA Membership at minimum Technician level is a requirement.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 (two) years of post-graduate experience in an accounting
Knowledge of any accounting system is an added advantage
